Save The Date: A Forum on Adaptation to Climate Change

The effects of the Global Climate Change are increasingly experienced in the Biosphere.  Adaptations to those changes in the environment are already becoming a dominant theme here, as they are in Canada and the World. In response, plans are now firm for the Bras d’Or Biosphere Reserve Association (BLBRA) and the Collaborative Environmental Planning Initiative (CEPI) to host a Forum on Climate Change Adaptation. Participants will include representatives from all 18 UNESCO Biosphere Reserves in Canada, the Indigenous communities within those BRs, and all four levels of Government. The event, to take place in Baddeck and Wagmatcook from June 18th to 21st 2019, will be held in conjunction with the Canadian Biosphere Reserves Association’s (CBRA) annual general meeting. Examples of best-practice adaptations in Canadian UNESCO BRs will be explored, and Knowledge Holders will be invited to share their experiences and understandings of adaptation in facilitated and reported discussions. The goal is to produce Adaptation Action Guidelines for use in communities across Canada.
