2024 Biosphere EXPO & Artisan Market

The Bras d’Or Lake Biosphere Region Association (BLBRA) is pleased to invite you to join us in celebrating the Bras d’Or Lake Biosphere Region during a Sunday Market Style gathering at the Inverary Inn’s Conference Centre in Baddeck on Sunday, June 9. Doors will open to the public from 11:30 – 2:30 pm.

So why celebrate?

Back in 2011, the Bras d’Or Lake and its watershed were declared a UNESCO Biosphere, one of 20 in Canada. The biosphere was recertified in 2012 after a lengthy review. We would like all residents to know that Biospheres are special regions around the world that have been recognized by UNESCO as examples of where people live in harmony with their environment. They are places where others may learn how to live more sustainably. We encourage businesses, residents and visitors alike to explore, enjoy and nurture this special region.

There is sure to be something of interest for everyone! Learn about the Biosphere – the association’s projects and initiatives, various partners and annual events. You will discover that the Bras d’Or Lake Biosphere Region is always within reach to explore, enjoy and nurture.

You may also want to join in on a guided “forestry” walk of the Nicholson Trail at 3 pm, after the EXPO.
