2024-2025 Impact Report

Much was accomplished in the span of 2024-2025. Many of the accomplishments of the year are highlighted throughout this report, assembled by staff and contributed by committee chairs and others.

Some significant achievements are noted below:

  1. The ongoing work for the Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC)
project including the addition of Dr. Colette Mesher, Project Manager. Thinking
forward to the end of this project, Colette applied to two funding streams with
focus on climate change and helped establish the Fund Development Committee.
  2. The continued inclusion of the Mi’kmaq Language into website and social
    media products when possible.
  3. Collaboration with the Unama’ki Institute of Natural Resources’ Climate
    Change team.
  4. Changes to the Canadian Biosphere Regions Association’s governance
structure with Stan Johnson appointed as the Atlantic region’s representative on
    the CBRA Board of Directors.
  5. BLBRA’s summer intern, Keagan Parris, conducted a preliminary audit and
inspection of the signage around the Biosphere in 2024-2025. This will guide
some of the work later in the year.
