Well, we have succeeded with another major step in the journey to have the Bras d’Or Lake and its Watershed designated as a Man and the Biosphere Reserve!

The Man and the Biosphere Committee of the Canadian Commission for UNESCO met last week and approved our submission! Our case was aptly (to say the least) presented by Fred Roots and George Francis – 2 of the most senior “gurus” of UNESCO Biospheres in Canada and abroad! The original submission would not have happened with out the on-going support and guidance of George Francis and the comprehensive review givien the penultimate draft by Fred Roots! We owe a lot to these two friends!

The final step is the acceptance by UNESCO itself – based in Paris, France.

We hope to hear later this Fall!
